Shaoshan Tour Itinerary
For attendees participating in the Shaoshan tour, please note that the journey begins on July 6th at 1:00 PM.
The city tour will be a half-day Shaoshan tour. The brief description is as below:
-
1:00 PM: Depart from Huayin International Hotel on foot and head to Mao Zedong’s Former Residence. The walk takes just a few minutes, and the visit lasts approximately 40 minutes.
-
Located in Shaoshan Village, Shaoshan Township, Shaoshan City, Hunan Province, the residence is the birthplace of Chairman Mao Zedong, the founding father of the People’s Republic of China. This traditional “concave”-shaped wood-and-earth building faces north with its back to the south. The Mao family lived on the east side, while neighbors lived on the west, sharing a central hall. The building covers a total area of 472.92 square meters.
In 1929, the residence was confiscated and damaged by the Kuomintang government, but it was restored in 1950. In 1961, it was designated a national-level protected historical and cultural site by the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.
-
Afterward, walk to the Memorial Hall of Comrade Mao Zedong’s Relics, where you will spend about 1 hour exploring various exhibits related to his life and legacy.
-
Next, travel by vehicle to Dishuidong for a scenic visit lasting around 2 hours. Dishuidong is renowned for its lush green mountains, bamboo groves, wildflowers, and vibrant birdlife. The natural beauty of the area has been praised in “The Genealogy of the Mao Clan”, describing it as: “A curving stream and a hillock, here lies a place of great strategic importance.”
-
Return to the Huayin International Hotel.
