Scope

In the last few years, the Internet of Things (IoT) has seen rapid developments due to device miniaturization and cost reduction. It aims to connect all objects through the Internet. These cooperative systems can provide fast, cost-effective, and safe solutions for many applications, including smart cities, autonomous vehicles, and drones. On the other hand, many IoT devices collect sensitive data, such as the number of people in an important building or brake oil amount in an autonomous vehicle, which should not be unintentionally disclosed, in addition to personal or confidential information. Due to the large number of devices in IoT systems, the possibility of information leakage or privacy breach is high.

To prevent this, each device applies a privacy-preserving method, which is applied in order to hinder adversaries from finding the sensitive data and the identity of owners. Unfortunately, most IoT devices are in general battery-powered and/or are not capable of providing a fast and reliable reply to user applications. In this respect, energy consumption is also a big challenge while being able to preserve the privacy of IoT devices.

This workshop aims to showcase the latest Original Research, Tutorial, and Review articles on these topics.

Publication

Accepted and presented technical papers will be submitted for publication by Springer and made available through SpringerLink Digital Library. Workshop Papers will be published as a part of the SecureComm Conference Proceedings. Proceedings will be submitted for inclusion in leading indexing services, including Ei Compendex, ISI Web of Science, Scopus, CrossRef, Google Scholar, DBLP, as well as EAI’s own EU Digital Library (EUDL).

Paper submission

Papers should be submitted through EAI ‘Confy+‘ system, and have to comply with the Springer format (see Author’s kit section).

All conference papers undergo a thorough peer review process prior to the final decision and publication. This process is facilitated by experts in the Technical Program Committee during a dedicated conference period. Standard peer review is enhanced by EAI Community Review which allows EAI members to bid to review specific papers. All review assignments are ultimately decided by the responsible Technical Program Committee Members while the Technical Program Committee Chair is responsible for the final acceptance selection. Bio of workshop Chairs: 

Mehdi Gheisari, Islamic Azad University, Iran

Mehdi Gheisari is a Ph.D. holder in computer science from Guangzhou University, China. His research interests are IoT, smart city, remote sensing data, distributed systems, cyber security. Prior to that, he was with the Islamic Azad University, where he served in the capacity of lecturer in the department of computer science. Furthermore, he has published papers in several domains in highly ranked journals and ranked conferences. He has been serving in academic works as well, such as reviewing papers from several well-known venues such as IEEE communication magazine, TPC of several conferences, etc.

Jiechao Gao, University of Virginia, USA

Jiechao Gao received the BSc degree from Jilin University, China in 2016, and the MSc degree from Columbia University, USA, in 2018. He is currently a Ph.D. student in the Department of Computer Science of the University of Virginia. His research interests include distributed networks, Internet of Things, Cloud Computing, federated learning, machine learning algorithms and applications. He has published several papers in well-known venues so far, such as IPDPS, ICPP, IPSN, IEEE trans on service computing and etc. He also served in academic works such as reviewing papers from several well-known venues such as multimedia and tools, soft computing, Peer J, Electronics, Sensors, IEEE sensors journal, ACM ToSN, IEEE TITS, IEEE IoT journal, etc, he also serves as guest editor in International Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, TPC of INFOCOM, and NeurIPS workshops.

Amir Javadpour, Guangzhou University, China

Amir Javadpour obtained his MSc degree in Medical Information Technology Engineering from University of Tehran, Iran, in 2014. From Guangzhou University, China, he received a Ph.D. in Computer Science/Mathematics. In addition, he has published papers with his colleagues in highly ranked journals and several ranked conferences in several topics including Cloud Computing, Software-Defined Networking (SDN), Big Data, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), and the Internet of Things (IoT). Additionally, he reviewed papers for several reputable venues such as IEEE Transaction, Springer, and the TPC of various conferences.

Yang Liu, Harbin institute of Technology, China

Yang Liu received his D.Phil (PhD) degree in Computer Science from University of Oxford (advised by Professor Andrew Simpson) in July 2018. Prior to joining Oxford, He received an MSc in Software Engineering from Peking University and a B.Eng in Computer Science from Ocean University of China. He is currently an Assistant Professor in Department of Computer Science and Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen, China. He is interested in security and privacy problems and, in particular, the privacy issues related to mobile and IoT devices.

Seyed Mojtaba Hosseini Bamakan, Yazd University, Iran

Seyed Mojtaba Hosseini Bamakan is an assistant professor at the Department of Industrial Management and Data Science Research Center of Yazd University, Iran. He was a postdoctoral researcher at Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He received his Ph.D. degree in Data Science from University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS). He has authored multiple articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, including Journal of Cleaner Production, Knowledge-Based Systems, Expert Systems with Applications, Energy, Neurocomputing and Computational Design and Engineering. His current research interests include blockchain technology, business intelligence, data mining, and intelligent optimization techniques.
